Job Summary
The Business Development Specialist will lead the organization's fundraising, partnership development, and resource mobilization efforts. The role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, cultivating donor relationships, and securing strategic partnerships that support the organization's mission of empowering women entrepreneurs across Africa. The ideal candidate will have a strong network of funding partners and a proven track record of securing grants and institutional funding.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising & Resource Mobilization
Identify and pursue grant, donor, sponsorship, and partnership opportunities.
Develop and manage a robust funding pipeline.
Support the achievement of annual fundraising and revenue targets.
Grant Writing & Proposal Development
Lead the development and submission of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and funding applications.
Collaborate with program teams to design fundable projects and develop compelling proposals.
Ensure timely submission of funding applications and compliance with donor requirements.
Partnership Development
Build and maintain relationships with donors, foundations, corporate partners, development agencies, and other funding institutions.
Leverage existing networks to generate funding opportunities and strategic collaborations.
Represent the organization at relevant donor, partnership, and networking engagements.
Opportunity Sourcing & Business Growth
Monitor and identify funding opportunities aligned with the organization's strategic priorities.
Develop partnerships that expand the organization's impact, visibility, and sustainability.
Support the development of new programs and initiatives that attract donor funding.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management
Maintain accurate records of funding opportunities, donor engagements, and proposal submissions.
Provide regular reports on business development activities, funding pipeline, and partnership outcomes.
Support donor stewardship and relationship management efforts.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, International Development, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years' experience in business development, fundraising, grant writing, or partnership development within the nonprofit or development sector.
Demonstrated success in securing grants and institutional funding.
Strong network of donors, foundations, development partners, and funding organizations.
Excellent proposal writing, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
