Job Summary
TeamAce is seeking a disciplined and detail-focused Chief Accountant to oversee accounting operations across the group.
The ideal candidate will ensure accurate and timely transaction processing, journals, reconciliations, and general ledger integrity, while coordinating closely with the Financial Controller to deliver a high-quality month-end close and maintain robust supporting schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting postings across sales, expenses, accruals, prepayments, and other journals with appropriate supporting evidence.
Maintain general ledger (GL) hygiene, including correct coding, timely posting, and disciplined handling of suspense items.
Ensure all journals are properly authorised in line with Delegation of Authority and audit trail requirements.
Execute and/or supervise key reconciliations (bank, clearing accounts, gateway settlements, key balance sheet accounts) and ensure reconciling items are aged and resolved.
Maintain balance sheet schedules and supporting working papers required for month-end close and audit readiness.
Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation runs.
Ensure capitalization and expense recognition align with policy and approvals; maintain supporting documents.
Support the Financial Controller during month-end close by preparing trial balance schedules, journal packs, and reconciliations for review and sign-off.
Ensure cut-off discipline for expenses and revenue-related postings in coordination with AR/AP and business units.
Strengthen process discipline across invoice processing, documentation completeness, and ledger controls.
Work with Tech/Data to improve posting automation, reduce manual errors, and highlight system gaps impacting accounting integrity.
Coordinate with Internal Control during reviews and ensure timely closure of findings related to accounting operations.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) strongly preferred; part-qualified candidates may be considered based on depth of experience.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in accounting operations, including journals, reconciliations, and ledger control.
Experience in multi-channel environments (retail/ecommerce/distribution) is an advantage, especially where payment gateways and POS reconciliations are required.
Strong command of journals, reconciliations, and ledger controls; comfortable working to close deadlines.
Solid understanding of accruals, prepayments, cut-offs, and supporting schedules.
Experience maintaining a fixed assets register and depreciation schedules.
Strong documentation discipline and comfort working within approval and evidence requirements.
Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems and spreadsheets.
Willingness to travel occasionally to operating locations as required.
