Job Summary
TeamAce is seeking a responsible, experienced, and detail-oriented Financial Controller to oversee end-to-end financial reporting integrity and manage the month-end close process across the group.
The ideal candidate will lead close planning and execution, ensure reconciliations and financial schedules are completed accurately, prepare management accounts and performance commentary, and maintain accounting policies and reporting standards.
Key Responsibilities
Close Leadership and Financial Reporting:
Own the month-end close calendar and checklist, coordinating dependencies across finance teams and business units.
Review and sign off key reconciliations and balance sheet schedules.
Ensure timely ageing and resolution of reconciling items.
Prepare monthly management accounts, including BU-level profit and loss statements and key group views.
Provide clear variance commentary on financial performance.
Maintain proper trial balance discipline, including accurate cut-offs, accruals, provisions, and consistent coding standards.
Accounting Policies, Standards and Governance
Own accounting policies and technical accounting positions.
Document policy interpretations and drive their adoption across the organisation.
Maintain the Chart of Accounts and cost centre mapping in partnership with Tech/Data and business unit owners.
Design and improve reporting processes to reduce manual work, increase accuracy, and strengthen auditability.
Performance Analysis and Decision Support:
Deliver variance analysis, gross margin bridges, and performance insights.
Translate financial analysis into actionable recommendations for business unit leaders.
Support budgeting and rolling forecast cycles.
Maintain strong financial modelling discipline and clear documentation of assumptions.
Audit Readiness and Stakeholder Management:
Maintain audit readiness, including the Prepared By Client (PBC) tracker and evidence index.
Ensure timely responses to audit queries.
Partner with Internal Control to address control findings and track remediation to closure.
Support tax and statutory schedules and filings in coordination with the Head of Finance and external advisers.
Systems and Data Integrity:
Partner with Tech/Data to ensure finance-impacting systems, including ERP, POS, ecommerce, and payment gateways, produce reliable data.
Ensure mapping logic is properly controlled.
Define and monitor finance data quality checks covering revenue completeness, cut-off, settlement integrity, and inventory valuation.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in financial accounting and reporting, with demonstrable month-end close leadership and audit experience.
Experience in operationally complex environments such as retail, ecommerce, FMCG distribution, or manufacturing is an advantage.
Hands-on experience with ERP-led reporting and multi-source reconciliations, including POS, ecommerce, and payment gateways, is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills and Competencies:
Strong month-end close management and balance sheet discipline.
Expert-level reconciliation and schedule control.
Strong technical accounting knowledge, including cut-off, accruals, provisions, inventory, revenue, and refunds.
Ability to produce executive-ready financial reports and commentary with clear drivers and recommended actions.
Strong spreadsheet modelling skills.
Comfortable working with BI dashboards and data extracts.
Strong audit readiness skills, including evidence indexing, PBC management, and query responses.
