Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead the company's finance function and provide executive financial leadership across all mining operations.
Reporting to the Managing Director and working closely with the Group Finance team, the CFO will be responsible for financial strategy, budgeting, treasury, capital management, financial reporting, cost optimization, regulatory compliance, risk management, and investment support to drive sustainable growth and long-term value creation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial strategy, annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and business performance management aligned with corporate objectives.
Provide financial modelling, investment analysis, and commercial support for mine development, capital projects, new concessions, joint ventures, and strategic investments.
Oversee financial reporting, cost accounting, treasury operations, cash flow, working capital, capital expenditure, and internal financial controls in compliance with IFRS and statutory requirements.
Manage tax planning, royalty obligations, external audits, regulatory reporting, and financial governance across mining operations.
Lead project finance initiatives and maintain strong relationships with banks, investors, development finance institutions, and other funding partners.
Identify and manage financial risks, including commodity price volatility, foreign exchange exposure, credit risk, and capital allocation.
Partner with operational and commercial teams to improve financial performance, support contract negotiations, and optimize profitability.
Build and develop a high-performing finance team while ensuring timely reporting to Executive Management, the Group Finance function, and the Board.
Requirements
Education & Professional Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
MBA or Master's degree is an added advantage.
Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, CPA, or an equivalent is required.
Additional certifications in Treasury Management, Financial Modelling, or Project Finance are advantageous.
Experience:
Minimum of 15 years' progressive finance experience, including at least 5 years in a senior finance leadership role.
Proven experience within mining, extractives, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, or other capital-intensive industries.
Strong track record in financial planning, treasury, project finance, capital expenditure management, statutory reporting, and financial controls.
Experience managing large-scale capital projects, audits, financing transactions, and regulatory compliance.
Experience within a diversified group or conglomerate structure is an added advantage.
