Job Summary
The Construction Project Accountant will be responsible for monitoring project finances, tracking construction costs, managing project accounts, and ensuring proper financial documentation and accountability across all construction activities.
The ideal candidate should have practical experience working with construction teams, contractors, vendors, and project budgets.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain accurate financial records for construction projects.
Monitor project budgets, expenses, and cost performance.
Track payments to contractors, artisans, suppliers, and vendors.
Review invoices, purchase requests, payment documents, and supporting records.
Prepare project cost reports and financial updates.
Reconcile project expenses and vendor accounts.
Support project managers with financial analysis and cost information.
Monitor material procurement costs and project expenditure.
Identify cost variances and escalate financial risks.
Maintain proper documentation of all project transactions.
Support internal audits and financial reviews.
Ensure compliance with company financial procedures.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree / HND in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
3 - 5 years' experience in construction/project accounting.
Experience working with construction companies is highly preferred.
Strong understanding of construction costing, procurement processes, and project expenditure tracking.
Ability to work closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, Procurement, and Site Teams.
Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
