Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
Be a Citizen of Kenya;
a Diploma in Wildlife Management, Environmental Science, Ranch Management, Tourism and other related fields from a recognized institution; and
Knowledge on handling of various species of reptiles.
Duties and Responsibilities
Implement animal welfare and care issues;
Provide broad enrichment regimes including physical and food enrichment;
Maintain sanitation, clean animal facilities and provide food and water;
Carry out regular observation on ill or distressed animals;
Control lights and humidity in animal facilities;
Train, relocate and transfer animals when need arises;
Be able to train/guide others and students about animals;
Adhere/follow an established manual or standard operating procedure;
Carry out routine health checks as per the established SOP and with the guidance of a supervisor;
Rescue endangered reptile species; and
Maintaining records and catalogues.
