Position Overview: The incumbent will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery. This role requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work efficiently under minimal supervision. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Viljoenskroon. The Diesel Mechanic will have the following responsibilities


Minimum Requirements
Position Requirements/Qualifications:


Matric/ Grade 12 certificate/N3
Fluent in English
At least 2 years of experience in the same position
Diesel Mechanic Trade Test certificate
Good communication Skills.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems
Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment
Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics


Duties and Responsibilities


Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, and related systems.
Inspect and replace worn or damaged components such as belts, hoses, and filters.
Service fuel injection systems, braking systems, and exhaust systems.
Use diagnostic tools and software to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
Troubleshoot engine failures, transmission problems, and hydraulic issues.
Provide accurate assessments and recommend necessary repairs
Conduct regular inspections to ensure vehicles and machinery operate efficiently.
Implement scheduled servicing to minimize breakdowns and downtime.
Advise on necessary upgrades or part replacements to maintain vehicle health.
Ensure all repairs and maintenance comply with safety and environmental regulations.
Follow industry-standard safety protocols when handling tools and machinery.
Maintain a clean and organized work environment to prevent accidents.
Maintain accurate records of all repairs, services, and parts used.
Complete job cards and service logs promptly.
Report recurring mechanical issues and suggest improvements.
Keep track of spare parts, tools, and equipment
Assist in ordering and stocking necessary parts for repairs and maintenance.
Ensure proper storage and handling of all mechanical components.
