Role Overview
The Directeur Usine (Plant Manager/Technical Director) oversees all operations of a fibre cement manufacturing plant, ensuring efficient, safe, and cost-effective production whilst maintaining high product quality and full compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Safety, Health & Environmental Management (10%)
Establish and maintain a strong safety culture across the plant, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 9001, and OHSAS 18001 standards
Monitor and maintain leading and lagging safety indicators, accident records, and SafeStart management systems
Conduct regular safety observations, safety talks, and HIRA (Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment) reviews to address high-priority items
Ensure optimal housekeeping standards and implementation of 5S/6S systems and visual management practices
Ensure FM Global priority items are addressed and maintained
Production & Cost Leadership (20%):
Drive production planning and operational excellence to achieve agreed efficiency and output targets
Communicate daily with commercial, sales, and despatch teams to maintain optimal stock levels
Manage production schedules and resource allocation to maximise plant utilisation
Control purchasing and procurement of spare parts in conjunction with Supply Chain procedures
Negotiate with suppliers on high-value items and technical aspects of raw materials
Quality & Customer Centricity (20%):
Ensure all products meet quality standards and customer requirements
Implement and maintain quality management systems and continuous improvement initiatives
Monitor quality metrics and drive corrective actions when required
Preventative Maintenance Management (20%):
Plan and schedule preventative maintenance to minimise unplanned downtime
Provide technical support and problem-solving for equipment breakdowns
Oversee maintenance team performance and asset reliability
Capital Expenditure & Project Management (20%):
Manage capital projects and investments within the approved budget (€18 million)
Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to specification
Evaluate and implement process improvements and equipment upgrades
People & Stakeholder Management (10%):
Lead, develop, and motivate a team of 206+ employees across six direct reports (Production, EHS, Continuous Improvement, Quality, and Maintenance Managers)
Foster industrial relations and ensure team alignment with plant objectives
Manage stakeholder relationships with regional leadership and external partners
Qualifications
Must be highly flexible and available to provide support to the team outside of regular hours.
Will be required to reside in a challenging environment, adapting holidays to business needs.
Must demonstrate resilience and adaptability to demanding working conditions.
