All Saints' Cathedral, Nairobi, is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Director of Music. The job holder will be responsible for the coordination, administration, and execution of all music programs within the church. The ultimate goal is to promote worship as a lifestyle that engages all generations, fostering church-wide music programs that connect the congregation deeply with God.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and supervise the direction of performing musical ensembles of the parish including the supervision of Choir Directors and assistant organists and the work of music ministry staff.
Source, arrange and provide music for all church activities as necessary upon request and in consultation with the Worship Minister and Ministry staff.
Work with the Ministries staff in coordinating all worship needs in the church calendar and programs.
Direct congregational singing at all regularly scheduled worship services.
Play the Organ for weddings, funerals and other mid-week services, or delegate to Assistant Organists where necessary.
Keep records of the work of Assistant Organists and Musicians and ensure that any honoraria are accurately requisitioned for.
Monitor the purchasing and replacement of all music-related equipment, supplies and instruments.
Schedule and oversee maintenance of the organs, pianos and other musical instruments as necessary.
Oversee the handling and development of the cathedral Music Library.
Lead the long-term sustainability and maintenance of the Cathedral Organ by coordinating with organ technicians, supporting the training and development of local organ maintenance personnel.
Oversee the use of musical instruments, equipment and facilities.
Work with the nominating committee to enlist and train leaders for the music ministry.
Lead in identification and recruitment of organists, choristers and instrumentalists.
Engage in continuous professional development and remain abreast of emerging trends, resources, and best practices in music performance, education, music ministry, and administration.
Prepare an annual music budget for approval and administrate the approved budget.
Oversee the development of young choristers, by overseeing the music program in the school and leading All Saints' Primary School Choir, as well as leading/overseeing the Sunday School Choir.
Academic and Professional Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in music or its equivalent (Those in their final year or waiting to graduate can also apply)
Applicants should hold an ABRSM Grade 8 certification, though candidates currently pursuing or registered for their Grade 8 exam are also welcome to apply.
Skills in Organ playing is a must.
5 years' relevant experience in a similar position.
Must profess faith in our Lord Jesus Christ
