Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must meet the following requirements:


Diploma in Electrical Engineering or Diploma in Electrical Installation from a recognized institution.
At least 2 - 3 years of practical work experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
Knowledge of electrical systems including:

Power distribution
Lighting systems
Generator systems
Electrical fault diagnosis


Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and wiring diagrams.
Good knowledge of electrical safety standards and regulations.
Must be registered or eligible for registration with the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) or a relevant professional body.
Have good communication and teamwork skills.
Have high level of integrity and professionalism.
Have knowledge in the related field of refrigeration, cold rooms
Must be a Christian of regular standing
Be reliable and flexible to work an extra mile on underground and overhead lines, odd hours.
Be able to fix, install appliances, equipment and electrical machines e.g. Motors, generators and control panel systems.


Duties and Responsibilities


Installation of electrical appliances and equipment for the university and in the university workers' homes
Service and repair of faulty power lines
Repair and maintenance of electrical appliances and equipment for the university and in the university workers' homes.
Repair and Maintenance of electrical installations tools, equipment, and records of maintenance activities on the entire campus
Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations.
Install, repair and maintain lighting systems including floodlights, security and street lighting around the campus.
Changing/replacement of lighting system e.g. bulbs, tubes, starters, sockets and ballast in buildings, homes and student hostels.
Replacement and maintenance of instant heaters in student hostels.
Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical systems/main switches
Support installation Inspection, repair and maintenance/servicing of the generators and backup power systems.
Check connections of the generator from the source to the consumer to ensure that they are in working order
Fueling of the Generator
Support installation, repairs and maintenance of generators, motors and backup power systems.
Troubleshoot electrical faults and ensure quick restoration of power systems.
Identify spare parts required for repairing the university electrical equipment.
Work closely with the Maintenance Department to support campus infrastructure needs
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of the university equipment and supplies.

Perform other duties assigned by the Physical Plant Manager.
