About the Role

BERL is seeking a dedicated professional to join the organization in a senior support and analysis role with a clear path into leadership. A candidate with a solid accounting foundation who is ready to broaden into general management.
The role combines executive analysis, financial management and cross-functional project responsibility.
The successful candidate will support the Managing Director with planning, reporting and execution while taking ownership of budgeting, management accounts, cash-flow planning, procurement analysis, operations and commercial matters.
As the candidate demonstrates sound judgement, reliability and commercial maturity, the role will grow to carry greater responsibility for management reporting and selected business initiatives, subject to appropriate review and financial controls.
The position is designed to build a long-term career with BERL and grow into a substantive leadership role in finance, strategy and business operations. Progression is based on demonstrated performance and organisational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Managing Director in the day-to-day management of the business, including strategic planning, decision-making, and execution of key initiatives.
Prepare monthly management accounts and budget variance reports.
Maintain weekly and rolling cash-flow forecasts.
Monitor receivables, payables and working-capital requirements.
Support tender pricing and commercial proposals.
Conduct vendor due diligence and procurement analysis.
Monitor project delivery, contract performance and customer obligations.
Monitor tax, pension and other statutory compliance.
Conduct research, market analysis, and business intelligence to support management decisions and identify growth opportunities.
Prepare reports, presentations, proposals, and other management documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Work with the team to grow BERL's client base and business relationships.

Financial Controls and Supervision
The candidate supports the finance function but does not operate it in isolation. To maintain proper segregation of duties:

The candidate's financial work (management accounts, reconciliations and reports) is reviewed by BERL's designated finance lead, external accountants and the Managing Director.
Technical accounting supervision is provided by the external accountants and, where applicable, the company's finance officer.
Payment approvals, bank mandates and audit oversight remain separated from the candidate's preparatory and analytical duties.
The candidate does not hold sole authority over payment initiation and approval, which stays with authorised signatories.

Growth and Progression:

The role is structured to move a capable finance professional into leadership. In the first phase the candidate consolidates ownership of the finance and reporting function and builds a full understanding of BERL's operations.
As competence and judgement are demonstrated, responsibilities broaden into commercial strategy, operations and management decision-making, with a view to a substantive leadership appointment over time.
Progression is based on demonstrated performance and organisational needs rather than a fixed timetable. The Managing Director provides direct mentorship throughout, and performance is reviewed against agreed objectives.

Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper (2:1) in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a closely related discipline.
Five to ten years of relevant post-NYSC experience, with a solid grounding in accounting and financial management that can be grown into a broader management-level knowledge base.
A professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or ICAN) completed or at an advanced stage of progression.
A demonstrated commitment to building a long-term career and growing into a leadership role within a single organisation.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office Suite.
