Job Description
Lead the finance function for Kenyan operations, driving financial strategy, accurate reporting, strong controls, and insights to fuel rapid network expansion, retail performance, and profitability in the competitive oil & gas sector.
Key Responsibilities
Lead financial strategy, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for business and station-level growth.
Oversee full-cycle accounting (GL, AP/AR, payroll, fuel/lubricant inventory, reconciliations, month/year-end closings).
Prepare financial statements, management accounts, cash flow reports, and KPI dashboards.
Manage treasury, cash flow, banking, and working capital in a high-volume retail setting.
Ensure compliance with KRA, EPRA, IFRS, ICPAK, and statutory requirements. Drive cost control, margin analysis, and profitability across stations.
Coordinate audits, internal controls, risk management, and fraud prevention. Support expansion projects, new stations and investments decisions.
Analytical Hands-on
Supervise and develop the finance team.
Commercially Aware
Collaborate with operations, retail, and procurement on pricing, inventory, and commercial matters.
Academic Qualifications & Professional Experience
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related (Master's/MBA advantage).
Professional qualification: CPA(K) or ACCA (ICPAK membership advantage).
7-10 years progressive finance/accounting experience, including 2+ years in managerial/senior auditor role.
Strong background in retail, oil & gas, energy, or multi-site operations preferred.
Expertise in financial planning, reporting, compliance, and cash management in fast-paced environments.
Hands-on with ERP systems and advanced Excel/analytics.
Deep knowledge of Kenyan tax, regulatory, and energy sector rules.
