ROLE IMPACT
The primary purpose of this position is to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis for the Agriculture division.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Fixed Assets
Record fixed assets acquisitions and disposals in the accounting system.
Assign asset numbers to fixed assets.
Track the compilation of project costs into fixed asset accounts, and close out those accounts once the related projects have been completed.
Prepare all journals relating to fixed assets.
Prepare monthly management reports relating to fixed assets.
Provide quality commentary on variances to plan and comparative periods.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations (Reconcile the balance in the fixed asset sub-ledger to the general ledger).
Prepare audit schedules relating to fixed assets and assist the auditors in their inquiries.
Assist with budgeting and reporting on fixed assets.
Oversee the preparation of monthly cashflow relating to capex and report thereon.
Explore ways to optimize the use of the accounting\BI systems in place.
Continuously assess operational and financial risks for all business units and ensure that mitigation controls are designed, implemented and effective.
Support Internal and External Audits and drive resolution of findings in their area of responsibility
Identify non-compliance with IFRS and drive the resolution thereof.
Assisting with tax audits and tax returns.
Ensuring that all statutory requirements are met.
Internal Controls
Assist in the co-ordination of internal control audits.
Follow up on control deficiencies identified and remediation thereof.
Identify areas where internal controls are required to be strengthened.
Assist and co-ordinate the preparation of SOPs.
Assist in implementing robust policies & procedures across entities to ensure a robust control environment.
General Finance
Prepare journals and transactions in line with the assigned responsibilities.
Support in the preparation of audit packs for smaller entities.
Support the Finance team with Ad-hoc activities/projects etc.
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
Qualified CA ( 2 Years Post Articles Experience) / AGA(SA)/ SAIPA /CIMA
Experience
Minimum of 2 years relevant Accounting and Reporting or Financial Planning & Analysis experience.
Previous operational finance experience advantageous

Knowledge
Up to date knowledge of IFRS standards
Knowledge of Tax requirements related to the agriculture division
Knowledge of governance requirements and processes relevant to manufacturing, supply chain and commercial operations
Skill
Advanced Microsoft Office Skills (EXCEL & PowerPoint)
Advanced ERP system (SAP/ORACLE/AX etc)
Microsoft AX experience is advantageous
Good communication and leadership skills
Ability to identify improvement areas in finance and operational processes and drive the implementation thereof
