Position Summary


The Forklift Operator will operate forklifts to transport, load, unload, and stack avocados across production and ripening areas. The role involves ensuring safe handling, monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, and coordinating with the Ripening Chamber Supervisor and other team members to maintain production efficiency and product integrity.


Key Duties & Responsibilities


Operate forklifts safely to transport avocados within ripening and production areas.
Load and unload avocados from trucks and internal logistics systems.
Arrange bins according to GRN sequencing to maintain traceability.
Conduct daily forklift inspections and report any maintenance needs.
Handle avocados carefully to prevent damage and maintain quality.
Coordinate with team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Maintain accurate records of daily forklift operations, incidents, and maintenance.


Key Outputs & KPIs


Operational efficiency: timely loading/unloading, work completed per shift.
Safety compliance: zero incidents, regular inspections completed.
Fuel efficiency: monitor usage relative to tasks completed.
Damage rate: minimize product damages.
Quality control: high percentage of correctly handled avocados.
Coordination and communication: timely and accurate reporting.
Documentation accuracy: complete and correct daily logs.
Maintenance & upkeep: ensure forklift reliability and minimal downtime.
Productivity: number of pallets handled per shift; efficient stacking.
Tipping rate: 150 bins per shift handled safely.


Qualifications & Experience


Certificate in Forklift Operations and valid driving license or related technical qualification.
Occupational Trade Tests III/II/I for forklift operators from a recognized institution.
First-Aid Certificate (minimum one week) from a recognized institution.
At least 3 years' experience operating forklifts in food processing or manufacturing.
Experience with electronic forklifts or similar machinery is a plus.
Knowledge of safety regulations related to forklift operations and food handling.
