Position Summary


The Sorting In-Charge will manage daily sorting operations, supervise casual staff, ensure correct fruit separation, and maintain high standards of hygiene and safety. The role is key in maintaining product quality, operational discipline, and timely reporting to management.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Coordination & Planning


Plan and coordinate the sorting process, ensuring availability of pallets, crates, and strappings.
Allocate and supervise casual staff to meet sorting targets and ensure correct palletising per GRN.
Ensure timely completion of sorting, palletising, and strapping for production readiness.
Identify and advise on process improvements to increase efficiency.


Quality Control


Ensure correct separation of fruits by ripeness: ripe, overripe, unripe, or rots.
Ensure proper labelling of sorted and unripe fruits according to GRNs.
Maintain high standards of sorting accuracy to avoid internal client complaints.


Safety Compliance


Adhere to Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
Follow proper procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the sorting area.


Cleaning, Sanitation & Housekeeping


Maintain cleanliness of sorting areas and arrange crates and pallets orderly.
Ensure compliance with GMP and hygiene standards during and after operations.


Documentation & Reporting


Prepare accurate daily sorting reports.
Track production output, quality issues, and incidents.


Team Collaboration


Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth workflow.
Provide guidance and mentoring to casual staff to meet operational standards.


Key Outputs / KPIs


Meet or exceed sorting targets with allocated labor.
Correct separation and labelling of fruits by ripeness.
Accurate palletising and GRN compliance.
Zero workplace accidents or safety violations.
Compliance with internal and external audits (OHSE, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 22000:2018).
Full PPE usage and adherence to sanitation standards.


Qualifications & Experience


Diploma in Food Science, Supply Chain Management, or related field; experience in the avocado industry is an added advantage.
Strong people management and coordination skills.
Training in OHSE, First Aid, and Fire Safety is an advantage.
Proficiency in computer applications; knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 22000:2018 is desirable.
