About the Opportunity:
Our client, a Tier 1 Deposit-Taking SACCO, has retained Skills Global Limited to recruit a strategic and hands-on Head of ICT to lead the Society's technology ecosystem.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of ICT will provide leadership for the technology roadmap, safeguard ICT infrastructure, strengthen cybersecurity frameworks, optimize enterprise systems, and enhance digital services to support sustainable institutional growth.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement the SACCO's ICT strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and the digital transformation agenda.
Provide leadership in the adoption of appropriate technologies, including mobile, online and member-service platforms.
Oversee ICT infrastructure operations and ensure high system availability, performance, reliability and user support across the Society.
Manage enterprise systems, including core banking platforms such as Navision or equivalent, cloud infrastructure, virtualization environments and ERP systems. Implement and enforce cybersecurity controls, including LAN/WAN management, firewall administration, access controls, incident response and compliance with ICT security policies.
Develop, test and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements, including data backup, redundancy and system restoration protocols.
Lead ICT governance and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, industry standards and approved ICT procedures.
Manage ICT projects from concept and business case development through implementation, user acceptance and post implementation review.
Manage ICT vendors and service providers, ensuring service-level agreements, licences, contracts and support obligations are properly monitored.
Prepare and present ICT performance, risk, project and compliance reports to management and other relevant governance forums. Lead, mentor and develop the ICT team, promoting innovation, accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field from a recognized university; a Master's degree is an added advantage. Relevant professional ICT certifications, such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Microsoft, VMware or ITIL, are highly desirable; membership of a recognized ICT professional body is an advantage.
Minimum 5 years in a similar role, preferably in SACCO/financial institution, Navision/core banking, BOSA/FOSA, cloud infrastructure such as Hyper-V/VMware. Strong hands-on knowledge of networking technologies, routing, switching, firewalls and enterprise infrastructure management.
Proven ability to lead ICT strategy, digital transformation and technology-enabled service improvement.
Strong project management, vendor management and contract monitoring skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users and decision-makers. High personal integrity, sound judgement, resilience under pressure and a strong results orientation.
