Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outcomes
Health & Safety Leadership
Develop and execute the country health and safety strategy in alignment with global QSE standards.
Champion a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Compliance & Risk Management
Ensure adherence to country occupational health and safety laws and corporate standards (ISO 45001, etc.).
Lead country-wide risk assessments and drive mitigation programs.
Incident Management
Oversee serious incident investigations and reporting.
Ensure timely closure of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, HR, and supply chain leadership to integrate safety into business processes.
Serve as the key contact with external regulatory bodies and certification agencies
Audit & Governance
Lead internal audits and facilitate external audits and certifications.
Conduct governance reviews to monitor compliance and execution of safety programs.
Performance Management
Track and analyze key safety indicators and incident trends.
Develop and present safety performance reports to senior leadership.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to enhance safety systems, training, and culture.
Lead country-wide initiatives (e.g., behavior-based safety, ergonomics, occupational health programs).

Skills, Experience & Education
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
Professional safety certification preferred (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSP, ISO 45001 Lead Auditor).
Experience
8 - 10 years of progressive health and safety experience, with at least 3 - 5 years in a leadership role within FMCG, preferably beverage manufacturing.
Proven track record in leading multi-site safety programs.
Strong background in regulatory compliance, risk management, and incident investigation.
Experience managing teams and developing functional capability
Skills
In-depth knowledge of South African health and safety legislation and standards
Familiarity with Coca-Cola KORE or other globally recognized safety management systems
Skilled in risk assessment methodologies
Proficient in root cause analysis tools
Competent in data analysis and reporting
Familiarity with EHS software platforms
