Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a FTC Project Engineer, to join the Midrand team at CCBA.The role will report to the Senior Project Manager.
Functional Capabilities
Engineering Design & Application: Ability to review and apply technical specifications, drawings, and designs for manufacturing and utility projects.
Project Lifecycle Management: Competence in planning, scheduling, and executing projects from concept through commissioning.
Technical Vendor Management: Ability to evaluate and interface with contractors, OEMs, and engineering service providers.
Construction & Commissioning Support: Familiarity with installation, testing, start-up, and handover procedures in a production environment.
Problem Solving: Capacity to troubleshoot and resolve technical project issues under time constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Effective engagement with multiple internal stakeholders including maintenance, operations, procurement, and QA
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outcomes
Project Engineering & Execution:
Support the technical planning and implementation of capital projects across the manufacturing network.
Develop engineering specifications, equipment layouts, and utility requirements in line with project goals.
Participate in the design review process and conduct feasibility analyses to ensure cost-effective and technically feasible solutions.
Work closely with contractors and equipment vendors to ensure proper installation, integration, and commissioning.
Site and Equipment Integration:
Conduct plant assessments to gather technical requirements and validate infrastructure readiness.
Ensure the seamless integration of new equipment with existing processes and systems.
Validate and approve technical drawings and installation plans in collaboration with relevant internal teams.
Quality, Safety, and Compliance:
Ensure that all engineering activities comply with CCBSA's QSE standards and national regulatory requirements.
Identify and mitigate engineering risks to safety, operations, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
Support environmental and energy efficiency initiatives through sound engineering solutions.
Vendor and Stakeholder Engagement:
Coordinate with procurement and legal teams on technical evaluation of supplier bids and contracts.
Engage with plant stakeholders and ensure clear alignment between project design and plant operational needs.
Act as a key technical liaison between project teams, plant personnel, and external engineering firms.
Documentation and Handover:
Support the preparation of technical documentation including equipment manuals, validation protocols, and commissioning reports.
Ensure that as-built documentation is accurate, and all assets are appropriately handed over to the operations and maintenance teams.
Support project close-out, post-implementation reviews, and lessons learned documentation.

Skills, Experience & Education
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering
Project management training or certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is advantageous
Experience
3 - 5 years of engineering project experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or beverage production industries
Experience working in cross-functional project environments, particularly in capital project execution
Familiarity with process equipment, packaging systems, utilities, and automation technologies in production environments
Skills
Proficient in reading and creating technical drawings, P&IDs, and layout schematics (AutoCAD or similar)
Skilled in MS Project, Excel, and engineering documentation tools
Knowledge of manufacturing systems, utilities, and facility infrastructure
Understanding of installation and commissioning protocols, FAT/SAT procedures, and validation requirements
Familiarity with EHS, quality, and regulatory requirements in food or beverage manufacturing
Strong written and verbal communication for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement
Problem-solving mindset with ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering tasks
