Job Description


A leading company in the industrial services and construction sector is looking for an experienced HR Manager / HR Assistant with strong experience in payroll administration, HR systems, and process improvement to join their team in Nelspruit. This role is ideally suited to a proactive and independent individual who can take ownership of the HR function, particularly managing fortnightly wages for a large workforce, while also introducing new systems, structures, and efficiencies. The successful candidate will work closely with site-based HR administrators and play a key role in centralising and improving HR operations.


Responsibilities:


Manage and process fortnightly payroll for approximately 220 employees
Oversee and improve HR systems, processes, and structures across multiple sites
Collaborate with site-based HR administrators and provide centralised support
Ensure accurate data integration between HR and accounting systems
Identify opportunities to reduce reliance on outsourced HR functions
Maintain compliance with relevant labour legislation and internal policies
Act as the primary point of contact for payroll and HR-related queries
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the HR function


Requirements:


Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or related field
Proven experience in payroll administration (high-volume advantageous)
Experience working with HR and payroll systems (e.g. ESS, Sage, Pastel or similar)
Strong understanding of HR processes and labour legislation
Ability to work independently and take ownership of the role
Strong problem-solving skills with a solutions-driven mindset
Excellent organisational and administrative skills
Ability to start immediately or within a short notice period
