Summary
We are currently seeking a Safety Officer at our facility in Awka, Anambra State, to effectively manage and enforce safety protocols, ensuring a safe working environment on the company's shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and oversee safety protocols and procedures on the shop floor.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Identify potential hazards and take proactive measures to prevent accidents and injuries.
Investigate any accidents or incidents on the shop floor and prepare detailed reports.
Conduct safety training sessions for employees to promote a culture of safety.
Ensure that all safety equipment and devices are properly maintained and in good working condition.
Maintain up-to-date records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
Prepare and put up safety signages regularly.
Stay informed about the latest safety regulations and best practices in the industry.
Prepare and submit regular reports on safety activities and performance to management.
Skills and Qualifications
Minimum of HND in Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
2 - 5 years proven experience as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
Excellent attention to detail and observational skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to conduct thorough investigations and prepare detailed reports.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Microsoft Excel.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement practical solutions.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is preferred.
