Key Responsibilities:


Provide technical expertise on surface and subsurface hydrological processes in relation to soil, slope, land cover, and rainfall patterns
Support design, supervision, rehabilitation, and monitoring of soil and water conservation structures, including check dams, infiltration pits, contour bunds, terraces, and vegetative ridges
Collect, analyse, and interpret hydrological data (rainfall, runoff, sediment load, groundwater levels) to inform land and water management interventions
Support watershed and catchment-based planning in collaboration with contractors and project teams
Use GIS and remote sensing tools to support watershed delineation and erosion risk mapping
Integrate climate adaptation measures into natural resource management interventions
Collaborate closely with engineers, agronomists, county staff, and community facilitators to link natural resource protection with livelihood improvement
Prepare clear technical reports, maps, and data visualisations adapted for both technical and non-technical audiences
Support facilitation of workshops and delivery of training sessions for community groups and county-level stakeholders
Participate in field assessments, surveys, and monitoring activities to assess impact over time


Qualifications & Skills:


Advanced proficiency in English and Swahili
University degree in Hydrology, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Science, or a closely related field
Strong background in community-based programme development and participatory approaches
Sound knowledge of hydrological processes, rainfall - runoff relationships, infiltration dynamics, and soil - water interactions
Experience in hydrological data collection, analysis, and application to project design
Familiarity with GIS and remote sensing tools for watershed analysis and erosion risk mapping
Strong collaboration, communication, and reporting skills


Professional Experience


Minimum 5 years' professional experience in watershed management, hydrological assessments, or catchment-based planning
Experience working in rural or agricultural landscapes
