Job Summary & Purpose

Outspan Hospital seeks a proactive ICT Officer to manage day-to-day IT systems, provide first-level technical support, and ensure the 24/7 availability, security, and efficiency of the hospital's ICT infrastructure. This role ensures continuous clinical and administrative operations through rapid incident resolution, system maintenance, and data protection.

Key Responsibilities


Technical Support: Resolve 1st-level issues via ticketing systems (Jira/ServiceDesk) for PCs, software, and clinical peripherals (barcode scanners, medical printers); triage tickets by clinical urgency.
Systems & HMIS Administration: Support Hospital Management Information Systems (HMIS), ERP software, Active Directory permissions.
Infrastructure & Maintenance: Maintain LAN/WAN connectivity, switches, and access points; perform scheduled preventive maintenance on hardware and server room equipment.
Cybersecurity & Data Privacy: Enforce endpoint security (antivirus, firewalls) and comply with data protection laws to safeguard confidential Patient Health Information (PHI).
Backups & Operations: Perform routine system backups, maintain IT asset inventories, coordinate vendor escalations, and respond promptly to emergency outages.


Qualifications and Requirements


Education: Minimum Diploma in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent (Degree preferred).
Experience: 1 - 2 years in ICT support or systems administration (healthcare setting preferred).
Technical Proficiencies: Familiarity with ticketing tools, Active Directory, basic networking (TCP/IP, cabling), HMIS/ERP, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
Certifications (Added Advantage): CCNA, CompTIA (A+, Network+, Security+), or ITIL Foundation.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities to resolve hardware, software, and network faults quickly.

Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure during network outages or critical clinical system downtime.
Strong time-management skills to balance ticket queues, routine maintenance, and sudden emergency requests.
Ability to collaborate seamlessly within the ICT team and across administrative and clinical departments.
