JOB PURPOSE


The Tiling Installation Training & Promotion Supervisor is responsible for establishing and maintaining professional tile and paving installation standards for Twyford and Micasso products, conducting practical installer training, providing technical installation support, and supporting product promotion activities.
The role will supervise and participate in hands-on installation activities, train fundis, installers, contractors and site teams, provide technical guidance at project sites, and work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to demonstrate the correct application and performance of Twyford and Micasso products.
The position will have particular responsibility for large-format tiles and big-size paving products, especially 60×120 cm and above, ensuring that installation practices meet the required quality, safety and finishing standards.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Installation Standards & Best Practices


Develop, implement and continuously improve installation standards, methods, checklists and practical guidelines for Twyford and Micasso tiles and paving products.
Establish standard installation procedures covering surface preparation, setting out, cutting, adhesive or bedding application, alignment, levelling, spacing, grouting, jointing, cleaning, finishing and handover.
Develop specific installation procedures and training standards for large-format and big-size tiles, particularly 60×120 cm and above.
Ensure recommended installation methods are aligned with the technical requirements and intended applications of Twyford and Micasso products.
Identify common installation defects and develop practical corrective and preventive measures.


Tile Laying & Paving Installation


Lead, supervise and participate in hands-on installation of Twyford and Micasso wall and floor tiles, paving, walkways, patios, driveways and other applications.
Demonstrate correct handling, lifting, cutting, setting out, adhesive or bedding application, positioning, levelling, alignment, spacing, grouting, jointing, cleaning and finishing techniques.
Provide particular guidance on the correct handling and installation of large-format tiles and big-size paving products measuring 60×120 cm and above.
Assess site conditions before installation and advise on appropriate surface preparation and installation methods.


Installer Training & Skills Development


Plan and conduct practical, hands-on training for tile installers, fundis, contractors, dealers, site teams and other construction professionals on behalf of Twyford and Micasso.
Develop practical training sessions covering tile laying, paving installation, surface preparation, product application, large-format tile handling, finishing and troubleshooting.
Demonstrate correct techniques for handling, laying, cutting, levelling, aligning, spacing and finishing large-format tiles.
Train installers on recommended installation methods for different tile sizes, applications and site conditions.
Conduct practical assessments to evaluate trainees' installation skills and understanding.


Site Visits & Technical Installation Support


Conduct regular visits to construction sites, dealer locations, showrooms and customer projects.
Provide technical installation guidance to installers, contractors, developers, dealers and customers.
Assess site conditions and advise on appropriate preparation, materials, tools and installation procedures.
Troubleshoot installation issues including lippage, poor adhesion, uneven surfaces, cracking, incorrect spacing, poor alignment, grout defects and finishing problems.
Provide practical solutions and corrective recommendations for identified installation challenges.
Follow up on previously reported installation issues to ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
Escalate product-related or technical issues that require further investigation to the Manager and relevant technical departments.
Collect feedback from sites and installers regarding product performance, installation challenges and customer requirements.


Installation Demonstrations & Product Promotion


Conduct and support live installation demonstrations of Twyford and Micasso products at showrooms, dealer outlets, construction sites, exhibitions, installer clinics and other promotional events.
Work closely with Sales and Marketing teams to support product launches, dealer activations, exhibitions and construction industry events.
Demonstrate the correct application, handling, installation and finishing of Twyford and Micasso products.
Explain product features, recommended applications and installation requirements to installers, contractors, dealers and customers.
Promote professional installation practices that enhance product performance, durability and customer satisfaction.
Use practical demonstrations to showcase the quality, application and suitability of different Twyford and Micasso products.
Capture approved installation activity information, photographs and videos for reporting and marketing purposes.
Provide technical installation support during customer and dealer engagements where required.


Installer, Dealer & Contractor Engagement


Build and maintain strong professional relationships with installers, fundis, contractors, dealers, developers and construction teams.
Identify potential installers and contractors for training and engagement programmes.
Support the development and maintenance of an approved or trained installer network for Twyford and Micasso products.
Encourage installers and contractors to adopt recommended installation practices.
Gather market feedback on installation challenges, product performance and customer preferences.
Share relevant feedback with Sales, Marketing, Product and Technical teams.
Support the company in building strong relationships with professional tilers and construction stakeholders.


Training Planning & Coordination


Develop practical installer training plans and schedules in coordination with Sales, Marketing and other relevant departments.
Coordinate training venues, participants, demonstration products, tools, equipment and other required materials.
Ensure all training resources are available and properly prepared before each training session.
Develop and maintain practical training materials, installation guides, checklists and demonstration procedures.
Conduct regular reviews of training programmes and recommend improvements.
Monitor trainee performance and evaluate the effectiveness of training programmes.
Prepare and submit regular training activity reports to the Manager.


Quality, Safety & Compliance


Ensure all installation and training activities comply with applicable health and safety requirements.
Ensure appropriate PPE is used during practical installation and training activities.
Promote safe handling, lifting and transportation of tiles, particularly large-format products.
Ensure installation tools and equipment are used correctly and safely.
Identify and report unsafe working conditions, accidents, product damage and installation risks.
Ensure practical demonstrations and completed installations meet the company's required quality standards.
Promote proper housekeeping and cleanliness at training and installation sites.


Reporting & Documentation


Maintain accurate records of installer training, site visits, product demonstrations and technical support activities.
Prepare regular reports on training activities, site support, installer engagement and promotional demonstrations.
Track the number of installers, fundis and contractors trained.
Document recurring installation challenges and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
Maintain an organized database of trained installers and contractors.
Maintain approved installation photographs and videos for marketing and reporting purposes.
Provide regular market and technical feedback to the Manager.
Perform other related duties assigned by the Manager.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education


Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Building Technology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Technical Education or a related field is preferred.
Relevant technical qualifications combined with strong practical tile installation experience may be considered.


Professional Experience


Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in tile laying, paving, construction, building materials installation or a related technical field.
Demonstrated experience supervising or executing tile and paving installation works.
Proven experience working with large-format tiles, particularly 60×120 cm and above, is highly preferred.
Experience in paving installation is an added advantage.
Experience training or supervising tile installers, fundis, contractors or site teams is highly preferred.
Experience working for or with a tile, ceramics, construction or building materials company is an advantage.


WORKING CONDITIONS


The role is primarily field-based and requires frequent travel to construction sites, dealer outlets, showrooms, customer projects, exhibitions and training locations.
The position involves regular hands-on installation, practical demonstrations and supervision of installation works.
The employee must be comfortable working in construction-site environments and handling tile installation tools and materials.
The role may require working outside normal office hours to support exhibitions, product launches, installer clinics, dealer activations and other promotional activities.
The employee must be physically capable of participating in practical tile installation activities, including the safe handling of large-format tiles.
