Job Description


To maintain the overall effectiveness of equipment and plant on site which includes Electrical and Mechanical support.
To anticipate and identify possible instrument reliability problems, which could appear and take appropriate actions to ensure manufacturing process continuity.
To facilitate and lead problem solving processes; provide inputs/suggestions to the Maintenance Foreman for continuous improvement.
To record and analyse breakdown trends of instruments per line using a maintenance system in order to motivate equipment improvement or purchases.
To render support on ad hoc projects e.g. renovate and refurbish machines/installations and commission in order to optimise process flow.
To ensure compliance with relevant Food Safety, Health Safety and GMP Requirements through the maintenance of process and document controls according to SOP's.
To supervise, train and coach Technical Operators regarding SOP's and work instructions to ensure best operating practices.
To repair, maintain and calibrate the instruments and maintain the integrity of the PLC.
To re-program the PLC when required.
To back-up programs on a monthly basis per line.


Qualification Requirements


N3/ N4 Qualification in Instrumentation
Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)


Experience Requirements


5 - 7 years as a Qualified Instrument Technician
5 years' experience in a FMCG environment
Experience with High Speed Continuous Operations PLC Programming experience

Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
Proficiency with diagnostic tools, calibration equipment, and control systems.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Familiarity with PLC systems and automated control loops.
Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols and regulatory standards.
