                                        The position is a fixed-term interim role for two years, starting as soon as possible. Employment location will be Bonn, Germany.
As Interim Head of Online, you take on the strategic, technical, and personnel responsibility for all digital marketing and communication activities of Welthungerhilfe. Your goal: to measurably increase donations, reach, and engagement across our digital channels — data-driven, precisely targeted, and with tangible impact. You lead an interdisciplinary team of around ten people, work closely with internal and external partners, and actively drive the digital transformation of our organization.
Your responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for our online activities: online fundraising, email marketing, social media channels, and websites (both technical and editorial).
- Strategically and data-drivenly manage all digital initiatives for acquiring and retaining supporters, in close collaboration with the cross-departmental newsroom.
- Lead and develop a team of around ten people, while managing external agencies and service providers.
- Ensure the ongoing content and technical development of digital channels and platforms (including CMS, web tracking, and email automation).
- Actively contribute to organization-wide emergency structures during crisis and humanitarian response situations, coordinating marketing measures.
- Use relevant KPIs to guide, measure, and continuously optimize digital activities.
- Plan budgets, manage resources, and ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards (e.g. GDPR, accessibility).
- Drive digital innovation — particularly in the areas of AI, automation, and data-driven processes.
Your profile
- A completed university degree (or equivalent professional training) relevant to the role.
- Several years of leadership experience in e-commerce or online fundraising
- Excellent understanding of online fundraising, e-commerce, and digital communication
- Technological foresight and the ability to effectively integrate new tools and developments into existing processes
- Strong decision-making skills, a high sense of ownership, and confident presence — especially in dynamic situations.
- Creative drive, commercial mindset, and pragmatism — you find solutions where others see problems.
- Strong communication skills, team spirit, and enthusiasm for working in an intercultural environment.
- Recognize the growing value of data within the organization and promoting data-driven, evidence-based decision-making within the team.
- Flexibility and full commitment in the event of acute emergency response situations.
- Excellent command of German and English, both written and spoken.
