A private equity and investment holding company is seeking an Investment Analyst to join their growing team in Johannesburg. This is an opportunity to be part of an organisation focused on creating meaningful change through strategic investments.
As part of the Investment Team, you will support the group's deal sourcing, due diligence and investment management processes. Your work will contribute directly to identifying and executing high-value opportunities while driving sustainable growth across the portfolio.
The ideal candidate is confident, articulate and excels at presentations. You should have strong technical expertise, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team.


Key qualifications and experience required for the Investment Analyst:


Bachelors Degreein a relevant field (i.e., finance, investment management etc.)
Completed or working towardsCFA Level I, II or IIIwould be advantageous
3+ years' experiencein a similar role
Experience gained inprivate equity, corporate finance, leverage finance, investment bankingor asset managementenvironments
Proven expertise in building financial models is essential
Exposure to due diligence processes and valuations
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications


Key duties of the Investment Analyst:


Assist with identifying, researching and evaluating investment opportunities that align with the group's strategic objectives, ensuring thorough analysis and consideration of all relevant factors.
Support the structuring of new transactions by contributing technical expertise and collaborating with colleagues across departments.
Participate in comprehensive due diligence processes on target companies, including financial, legal, commercial and tax aspects, often working alongside external experts when required.
Scope due diligence assignments effectively to ensure all necessary information is gathered for informed decision-making.
Conduct detailed research into industries related to current investee companies as well as those targeted for future investments, providing valuable insights for strategic planning.
Contribute to quarterly reviews of the group's investment portfolio by analysing financial data received from investee companies and preparing clear, informative investment reports.
Assist in performing internal quarterly valuations of investments for inclusion in management accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with best practices.
Provide technical support to the Chief Investment Officer and Investments Team on specific projects as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and willingness to learn new skills.
Actively participate in activities designed to enhance the brand reputation of the group within the broader market.
