Job Purpose

The Associate Advocate will be responsible for handling a broad portfolio of conveyancing and commercial transactions, providing sound legal advice, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing client relationships, and supporting administrative, billing, and reporting functions within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Legal & Technical Responsibilities


Conduct thorough due diligence for conveyancing and commercial transactions to safeguard client interests.
Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents including Agreements for Sale, Leases, Charges, Debentures, and Commercial Contracts.
Handle conveyancing and commercial transactions from instruction to completion.
Issue well-reasoned legal opinions on conveyancing and commercial matters.
Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and professional standards.
Procure and process all statutory, legal, and administrative documents required for transactions.


Client, Administrative & Billing Responsibilities


Manage administrative aspects of conveyancing and commercial matters, including scheduling, correspondence, and record keeping.
Coordinate with internal teams to ensure efficient workflow and timely task completion.
Maintain strict confidentiality of client information and firm strategies.
Prepare quotations, fee notes, and invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
Negotiate fees with clients where applicable and resolve billing discrepancies.
Follow up on outstanding payments and support billing and collections efforts.
Actively participate in departmental marketing initiatives and client engagement activities.
Establish, nurture, and maintain strong client relationships.


Portfolio & File Management


Manage a portfolio of corporate, commercial, and conveyancing matters from initiation to completion.
Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date electronic and physical client files.
Provide regular status updates to clients on transaction progress.
Implement best practices in file management, documentation control, and data security.


Reporting & Performance Monitoring


Prepare and submit reports on transaction status, billings, collections, and departmental performance
Analyze data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Present findings and recommendations to management as required.


Qualifications & Experience


Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
Minimum 2-3 years experience in Conveyancing, Corporate, and Commercial practice.
Strong working knowledge of Kenyan conveyancing and commercial laws.
Demonstrated experience handling end-to-end transactions independently.
Strong drafting, analytical, and legal opinion-writing skills.
High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
Strong client management, communication, and negotiation skills.
