Key Responsibilities
Lead the design and operationalisation of a practical, user-friendly knowledge management system for the MoEP Research and Knowledge Management Unit.
Develop and institutionalise tools, SOPs, and processes to support effective knowledge capture, organisation, and use.
Curate and synthesise relevant evidence to inform policy and decision-making.
Deliver hands-on training and mentorship to build sustainable in-house capacity.
Support stakeholder engagement, policy processes, and knowledge translation efforts.
Contribute to project coordination, learning, and reporting within the AFIDEP - MoEP partnership.
Systematically map and track knowledge needs across the energy sector, with a primary focus on renewable energy and relevant climate and health linkages.
Identify and curate relevant data, evidence, and information from national, regional, and global sources to populate and maintain the database.
Serve as the primary liaison between MoEP and AFIDEP, attending project management meetings and contributing to project monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) activities.
Qualifications and Experience
A Master's degree in Information Science, Knowledge Management, Library Studies, Information Technology, Public Policy, Development Studies, or a closely related field.
A minimum of 3 years' relevant professional experience in knowledge management, information management, or a closely related field.
Demonstrated experience designing, setting up, or managing knowledge databases or information management systems, preferably within a government institution, research organisation, or development sector context.
Experience organising and curating knowledge from multiple sources to serve the needs of a team or institution.
Experience delivering training or mentorship to build knowledge management capacity
Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, database software or knowledge management platforms, and document management tools (e.g., SharePoint or equivalent). Experience with data visualisation tools is an advantage.
Strong data literacy, including the ability to organise, interpret, and present information clearly.
Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to produce clear, well-structured reports, briefing notes, and training materials.
Desirable
Familiarity with AI-powered knowledge tools and other free digital tools for information retrieval and organisation.
Prior experience working within a government ministry, department, or agency (MDA) in Kenya.
Familiarity with Kenya's energy sector or energy and climate policy processes at national or regional level.
Experience in a secondment, embedded, or knowledge broker role within a government institution.
Experience working with or supporting national technical working groups or similar government-led coordination platforms.
