Qualification
Education, Skills and Experience
Must have:
A Diploma in Laboratory Science, Applied Biology, Analytical Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Technology, or a related field from a recognized institution.
At least 3 years of work experience in a similar role.
Computer literacy and proficiency in inventory management systems and basic computer applications.
Knowledge of laboratory chemicals, consumables, and stores management procedures.
Strong organizational, record-keeping and reporting skills.

Duties and responsibilities:
Maintain detailed records of purchases.
Enter all chemicals, glassware and other lab consumables received into the computerized inventory.
Forecast and maintain inventory levels of commonly used consumables and minor equipment to meet departmental needs.
Maintain a stockroom of chemical supplies and apparatus to ensure availability of requested items.
Record inventoried laboratory items in logbooks, stock cards, or computerized systems to maintain accurate inventory records.
Compile reports of issuance and expenditures.
Check incoming goods against delivery notes with respect to quantity, condition and specifications.
Place goods according to designated storage locations and safety requirements.
Maintain accuracy between physical stock balances and inventory records in the system.
Conduct periodic stock taking and prepare stock reports and reconciliations.
Ensure adequate stock levels and prevent stock-outs of laboratory supplies.
Report inadequacies, damages or delays in supplies to the Principal Laboratory Technologist.
Observe safety procedures in handling and storage of laboratory chemicals and materials.
Perform any other duty as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
