Job Summary


Amo Farm Sieberer Hatchery Limited is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to support laboratory operations through sample collection, testing, analysis, and reporting.
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting laboratory diagnostics, including ELISA and PCR testing, to support poultry health management, disease surveillance, quality assurance, and biosecurity programs across the business.


Key Responsibilities


Collect, prepare, and process samples for laboratory analysis.
Perform diagnostic testing using ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) and PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) techniques.
Conduct routine microbiological, serological, and molecular analyses.
Assist in poultry disease surveillance, monitoring, and outbreak investigations.
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ELISA readers, PCR machines, and other laboratory equipment.
Interpret test results and prepare accurate laboratory reports.
Ensure adherence to laboratory quality assurance procedures and biosecurity protocols.
Maintain laboratory records, testing logs, and documentation.
Monitor laboratory consumables and reagents and initiate replenishment requests when necessary.
Participate in laboratory audits, proficiency testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.


Requirements


Bachelor's Degree or HND in Microbiology, Veterinary Laboratory Technology, Animal Science, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biological Sciences, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years' laboratory experience, preferably within the poultry, veterinary, livestock, or agricultural industry.
Hands-on experience conducting ELISA and PCR testing is mandatory.
Knowledge of poultry diseases and diagnostic procedures will be a strong advantage.
Experience operating and maintaining ELISA readers, thermal cyclers (PCR machines), and related laboratory equipment.
Strong understanding of laboratory quality management systems and biosecurity practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and Word.
