The main purpose of the incumbent is to educate and train competent nurses through innovative research- based teaching and learning strategies and through leadership and continuous development of nurses in practice thereby promoting the growth and sustainability of the nursing profession in South Africa, and within in the organization. The successful incumbent will report to the Nursing Education, Training and Capacity Manager.

Key Performance Areas: The successful incumbent should perform, inter alia, the following key performance areas: 1
Effective Recruitment and Selection of students for relevant programme/s of delivery: Co-ordinate various recruitment drives in line with Lenmed nursing education strategy. Conduct information sessions with potential students at College. Screen student applications in line with College selection policy. Participate in selection interviews of candidates. Assist with preregistration assessment of potential students . Conduct full induction of students to the college and ensure hospital inductions are complete. Submit necessary documentation to the SANC and obtain proof of student registration.
Effective Theoretical and Clinical Facilitation of Nursing programmes Plan and co-ordinate resources and methods for specific education and training requirements (e.g. simulation, guest lecturers, field trips etc.). Facilitate modules and learning units according to programme schedule (including demonstrations and simulations). Keep attendance register and record of facilitation of content / modules. Drive student research projects as per programme requirements and College initiatives and support presentation of projects by students. Review student feedback forms, identify gaps and implement remedial action where necessary.
Effective assessment of students (Theory & Clinical) Participate in the development of assessments and examinations. Conduct credible and authentic student assessments and examination processes. Collect and capture student results, identify trends and implement remedial action where necessary. Participate in formative evaluation in clinical setting. Ensure all clinical formatives are demonstrated and students have opportunity to practice.
Research and scholarly activity Maintain a personal scholarly profile of at least national quality and reputation that enhances the reputation and standing of the nursing programmes and the College. Apply current and relevant research findings in teaching and learning activities and nursing content covered in programmes. Assist nursing practice in identifying and implementing current evidence-based practice.
Relationship Visit nursing units and engage with students and staff in current practices. Attend programme meeting and provide feedback, discuss concerns and plan the delivery of programme and assessments. Liaise with clinical training specialists and plan the clinical education of students. Join education and nursing association/s to keep up to date. Consult with experts and invite experts to facilitate class sessions as needed. Attend information sessions related to updated clinical and education practices at LENMED facilities.


Post Requirements: (include but are not limited to)


Minimum Required Education: Degree in Nursing Science, or equivalent qualification (NQF level 8) (essential). Diploma/ degree in Nursing Education (preferred). Master's degree in health sciences, or equivalent qualification(preferred). Inherent Requirements: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in higher education, preferably within a hospital or healthcare group. Must be registered with the SANC as a professional nurse and midwife. Postgraduate qualification in Nursing Education, with a strong background in professional practice, teaching, and learning. Proven experience in programme leadership and administrative management within nursing education Demonstrated experience in research and scholarly activities. Experience in developing, conducting, and moderating formal assessments. Proven ability in workload planning and academic resource management. Experience in curriculum and programme development within a higher education or nursing education environment. Proficiency in the use of educational technology, including educational tools, simulation equipment, and electronic learning platforms.
