Requirements
A relevant Law Degree
Admission as an attorney or Bar Advocate (passed bar examination) is preferred
At least 2 years' relevant experience in a relevant legal environment, preferable post-admission
Computer literacy in MS Office Suite
Essential drafting experience in producing written legal opinions.
Understanding of legislation and case law relating to Constitutional and Administrative Law, Interpretation of Statutes and other areas of the South African law applicable to the public sector.
Understanding of Local Government legislation, policies and procedures.
Strong legal research capabilities.
Ability to analyse legal questions and to interpret legislation, policies and contractual frameworks to provide clear, structured and practical risk based legal advice.
Valid driver's licence is recommended

Conduct legal research and manage legal projects.
Draft high-quality legally sound written opinions on issues of legal and governance matters.
Provide interpretive guidance on legislation, policies, delegated authority and regulatory frameworks.
Analyse factual records and translate information into a structured legal analysis.
Provide advisory support to internal stakeholders through written legal opinions to ensure that general legal decisions taken, advice and guidance offered are within legal parameters.
Ensure legal opinions are delivered within corporate timelines.
Maintain awareness of legislative developments and relevant case law impacting advisory work.
