KEY RESPONSIBLITIES

Trucks Offloading:


The Loader, Operations is responsible for safely boarding delivery trucks and following offloading instructions to ensure shipments are correctly handled. This includes stacking boxes on skids for proper placement in cold-stores, cleaning airline equipment (ULDs), assisting with the movement of shipments and equipment through the cold-stores, and adhering to all PPE and health and safety procedures.


Cargo Build-Up / Palletization:


The role involves stacking boxes on airline equipment (ULDs) according to contour specifications, securing buildup units (BUPs) with nets, and assisting with their movement within the cold-stores. The Loader is expected to handle all tools carefully, report any irregularities to the Supervisor, maintain cleanliness and order in the workplace, and perform any other duties assigned by the Team Leaders while following all health and safety protocols.


Cargo Dispatch / Push-Outs:


The Loader supports the movement of buildup units (BUPs) to dispatch areas, ensures nets are properly applied and tightened, and applies pallet covers to all units leaving the warehouse. The role also includes retrieving, folding, and storing pallet covers after flight loading, keeping the workplace organized, assisting in cold-store operations as needed, and performing additional relevant tasks assigned by the Team Leaders, all while adhering to PPE and safety procedures.


QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Academic Qualifications;


KCSE Certificate
Additional training or certification in logistics, warehousing, or forklift operation is an added advantage.


Experience;


Minimum 1 - 2 years' experience in a similar role within a logistics, warehouse, or cold chain environment.
Experience handling perishable goods (e.g., flowers, produce, fruits) is highly desirable.


Technical Skills;


Basic understanding of cargo handling procedures and palletization.
Familiarity with ULD (Unit Load Devices) and airline cargo handling equipment.
Ability to use manual handling tools and basic machinery safely.
Knowledge of cold chain operations is an asset.


Physical Requirements:


Ability to lift, move, and stack heavy boxes.
Comfortable working in cold environments (refrigerated warehouses or loading bays).
Physically fit and able to stand or walk for extended periods.
