Job Description


Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Maintenance Controller, to be based in Midrand at CCBA.


Key Purpose :


Maintenance team supervision and leadership
Preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance execution
Scheduling, resource planning, and workload balancing
CMMS job management and feedback
Compliance to SHEQ, GMP, and engineering standards
Root cause analysis and continuous improvement support
Coaching, skills development, and performance management of technicians


Key Duties & Responsibilities
Key Outcomes:

Maintenance Execution and Oversight


Ensure planned and unplanned maintenance activities are executed effectively and within required timeframes.
Assign and monitor daily maintenance tasks, job cards, and technician deployment.
Ensure all breakdowns are resolved quickly and that root causes are identified and addressed.


Equipment Reliability and Improvement Support


Collaborate with the Reliability Engineer and Plant Engineer on root cause analysis, MTTR/MTBF tracking, and reliability initiatives.
Identify and escalate chronic equipment issues and propose corrective actions.
Support the deployment of reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), asset care plans, and condition monitoring.


CMMS and Maintenance Reporting


Monitor SAP PM data to ensure job card closure, accurate fault logging, and time tracking.
Analyse trends in equipment failures and work order backlog to support improvement initiatives.
Maintain updated technical documentation and support master data accuracy.


Shutdowns and Project Support


Plan and coordinate Technician involvement in shutdowns, overhauls, and projects.
Ensure availability of resources, spares, and tools for scheduled interventions.


Safety, Quality and Compliance


Enforce adherence to health, safety, environmental, and GMP standards.
Ensure that technicians follow lockout/tagout, permit-to-work, and safe work procedures.
Maintain compliance with audit requirements and participate in SHEQ audits and reviews.


Team Leadership and Performance Management


Lead and manage a team of Maintenance Technicians, providing guidance, coaching, and support.
Monitor team performance, conduct regular reviews, and implement development plans.
Support the training and upskilling of artisans in coordination with the Technical Trainer.

Skills, Experience & Education
Education


Minimum: N6 Certificate or National Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronic Engineering
Trade Test as an Artisan (Mechanical, Electrical or Millwright)
Preferred: BTech in Engineering or equivalent industrial/technical qualification


Experience


5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing/FMCG environment
Proven experience working with CMMS
Exposure to TPM, RCM, and Lean maintenance practices
Experience in both mechanical and electrical systems is advantageous


Skills


Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and utility systems
Proficient in PM (job planning, feedback, and reporting)
Skilled in breakdown analysis and maintenance troubleshooting
Familiarity with reliability metrics (MTTR, MTBF) and RCA tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)
Knowledge of GMP, SHEQ compliance, and engineering best practices
Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and OEM documentation
Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills
Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and tracking
