KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & Growth


Support new business acquisition through proposal development, tenders, and presentations.
Partner with the business development team to structure competitive and differentiated medical solutions.
Identify cross-selling opportunities across Zamara's broader risk, insurance, and pension offerings.
Contribute to thought leadership on medical insurance trends, SHA integration, and healthcare financing in Kenya.


Client Relationship Management


Develop and maintain strong relationships with key decision makers and HR teams.
Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and retention.


Advisory and Technical Support


Provide expert advice on benefit design, market benchmarking, and underwriting options.
Liaise with underwriters to structure optimal medical insurance solutions.
Interpret policy terms and guide clients on exclusions, claims procedures, and provider access.


Market Intelligence and Reporting


Monitor competitor activity, pricing trends, and innovation in medical insurance.
Generate periodic performance reports and pipeline forecasts.


People Leadership


Lead, coach, and develop the BD teams.
Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance reviews.
Build a high-performance, client-centric culture focused on accountability and continuous learning.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES


Strong technical knowledge of medical insurance products.
Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Financial and analytical capability, including claims and loss ratio analysis.
Client advisory and presentation skills, including engagement with senior executives.
Leadership, people management, and team development capability.
Strong understanding of the Kenyan healthcare and insurance market.


QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE


Bachelor's degree in insurance, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, or a related field.
Professional qualifications such as ACII, AIIK, LOMA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Minimum of 7 - 10 years' experience in medical insurance brokerage, underwriting, or healthcare benefits management.
Demonstrated leadership experience managing teams and complex client portfolios.
