Job Description


Lesaka Utilities is looking for a creative, commercially minded, and hands-on Marketing & Design Manager to lead our marketing and design function. This role is responsible for driving the visual identity of the brand, overseeing the delivery of impactful marketing campaigns, managing external suppliers, and leading a talented creative team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring all marketing and design outputs are aligned to business objectives, delivered to a high standard, and consistently reflect the Recharger brand.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic design for all marketing initiatives


Lead and personally deliver graphic design across print, digital, social media, web, packaging, signage and point-of-sale material for Recharger.
Translate commercial and campaign briefs into clear creative concepts, layouts and finished artwork, and manage the design workflow from brief to sign-off.
Prepare print-ready and digital-ready files to the correct specifications, and maintain an organised library of artwork and templates.
Work with the Commercial and Product teams in Lesaka Utilities to plan campaigns, promotions and product launches.


Custodian of the corporate identity


Own, maintain and update the Recharger brand guidelines, in line with the Lesaka brand standards and CI manual.
Review and approve all internal and external material using the brand (including partner, agency and supplier output) before release.
Brief and coach staff, agencies and suppliers on correct logo use, colour, typography, tone and layout.
Protect brand consistency across all channels, and escalate any misuse or risk to the Managing Director.


Marketing liaisons, supply and procurement of materials


Manage relationships with printers, signage makers, promotional-item suppliers, agencies and other marketing vendors.
Obtain quotations, compare suppliers, place and track orders, and check quality and delivery against specification.
Manage the marketing budget and consumables stock, and keep procurement within Lesaka purchasing and approval processes.
Coordinate supply of branded materials to field teams, sales channels and partners.


Management and supervision of the Marketing team


Allocate work, set priorities and deadlines, and review output for quality and brand compliance.
Set KPIs, conduct performance reviews and run development plans for each team member, together with the People team.
Recruit, onboard and coach team members, and manage leave, attendance and discipline in line with company policy and labour legislation.
Report to the Managing Director on team delivery, marketing activity and spend.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree or national diploma in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Marketing or a related field (NQF level 6 or higher).
A recognised marketing qualification is an advantage.


Experience


At least 5 years' graphic design experience in a marketing, advertising or corporate environment, with a strong portfolio.
At least 2 years in a supervisory or management role, leading a creative or marketing team.
Proven experience managing a corporate identity and enforcing brand guidelines.
Hands-on experience sourcing and managing print, signage and promotional-material suppliers, including quotations and budgets.
Experience in fintech, prepaid, retail or utilities marketing is an advantage.


Technical skills


Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); working knowledge of Figma or similar, and basic video or motion editing.
Sound knowledge of print production, colour management, file preparation and finishing processes.
Working knowledge of digital and social media design, and of web banner and email formats.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel and PowerPoint in particular) for budgets, reporting and presentations.


Other


Valid driver's licence and own transport, as site and supplier visits may be required.
Willingness to travel occasionally.
