Job Summary
The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in mathematics to students, developing their mathematical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and analytical thinking.
The teacher will create engaging lessons that make mathematics accessible and relevant, preparing students for academic success and real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging mathematics lessons aligned with the curriculum and educational standards
Break down complex mathematical concepts into understandable steps
Relate mathematical concepts to real-world applications and practical situations
Prepare students for internal and external examinations (WAEC, NECO, JAMB, etc.)
Develop students' computational skills, logical reasoning, and analytical thinking
Foster problem-solving strategies and mathematical literacy
Build students' confidence in their mathematical abilities
Design and administer tests, quizzes, assignments, and examinations to assess student understanding
Evaluate problem-solving processes, not just final answers
Provide timely, constructive feedback showing where students went wrong and how to improve
Recognize and address diverse mathematical abilities within the classroom
Provide enrichment activities for advanced students
Offer additional support and alternative explanations for struggling students
Qualification and Requirements
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related field (minimum requirement)
Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE)
Certification:
Professional registration with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of teaching experience at secondary/high school level
Demonstrated success in preparing students for WAEC, NECO, and JAMB examinations
Experience teaching mathematics at various levels (Junior and Senior Secondary)
