Job Summary
A Mechanical Lead manages the design, installation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems, leading engineering teams to ensure safety, reliability, and project compliance.
Key responsibilities include coordinating technical activities, mentoring staff, reviewing designs, ensuring code compliance, and managing vendors or contractors.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on mechanical design, systems, and engineering standards. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in product development projects.
Team Management: Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians, assigning work and managing performance.
Project Execution: Oversee the development and maintenance of projects from concept to production, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
System Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs for facility infrastructure (HVAC, plumbing, machinery) to minimize downtime.
Design Review & Documentation: Approve technical drawings, design changes, and documentation to ensure adherence to specifications.
Collaboration & Compliance: Coordinate with architects, contractors, and other departments to ensure MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) integration and compliance with safety/regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Proven experience in a senior or lead mechanical role, often 5+ years.
Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA V5) and simulation tools.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes (ASME, ASHRAE, etc.), and safety regulations.
Excellent project management and leadership skills.
