Full-time
On-site
Position Overview
The Mechanical Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing high-speed mechanical systems, injection molding machinery, and advanced industrial packaging equipment.
This specialized role focuses on maximizing plant uptime and optimizing production cycles for Husky (125, 400, HPP 4.0) and SACMI IPS 400 systems, alongside crucial auxiliary drying and dehumidification utilities.
Core Job Responsibilities
Machine Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Execute planned preventative maintenance (PM) schedules on Husky and SACMI IPS 400 injection molding machinery to minimize unscheduled downtime.
Diagnostic Mastery: Troubleshoot and isolate root causes of complex mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and servo-driven system failures under tight production deadlines.
Advanced Robotics Maintenance: Calibrate, service, and repair high-speed robotic take-out mechanisms, including Husky CoolPik systems and SACMI belt-free linear motor assemblies.
Component Overhauls: Disassemble, rebuild, and re-install high-wear components, including hydraulic pumps, proportional valves, high-pressure cylinders, accumulators, and toggle linkages.
Mold & Tooling Management: Perform multi-cavity PET mold changes (ranging from 32 to 128+ cavities) and ensure precise mechanical alignment and platen/tie-bar parallelism.
Hot Runner Service: Safely clean, inspect, and maintain hot runner manifolds, valve gates, seals, and electrical heater bands to avoid material leakage or thermal degradation.
Resin Dryer Optimization: Monitor, calibrate, and maintain resin drying systems to ensure a continuous and stable dew point (targeting down to -40°C) to completely prevent PET hydrolysis.
Mold Dehumidifier Control: Manage and maintain auxiliary mold enclosure dehumidification systems to eliminate water condensation ('sweating') on chilled mold faces.
Fluid Systems Regulation: Inspect and regulate mold chilled-water loops, verifying proper volumetric flow rates, pressure balances, and leak-free quick-connect interfaces.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce and strictly adhere to all workplace safety protocols, including mandatory corporate Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and active risk mitigation policies.
Data Tracking & Logistics: Document all structural modifications, component replacements, and preventative maintenance interventions accurately within the plant's CMMS software.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education: High school diploma, technical trade apprenticeship, or an Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.
Experience: 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience in high-volume industrial manufacturing, specifically working with PET preform injection molding equipment.
Technical Knowledge:
Deep proficiency with high-pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, servo-variable pumps, and structural tool mechanics.
Auxiliary Expertise: Proven experience managing high-capacity desiccant resin dryers, mold dehumidifiers, and industrial water chillers.
Physical Demands Ability to lift heavy mechanical components, climb access ladders, and work efficiently within warm plant environments.
