REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Experience: Grade 1: None after registration
Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years' appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration
Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years' appropriate experience as Medical Specialist after registration
Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver's license, willingness and ability to travel.
Competencies: Ability to care for Obstetric and Gynaecology patients, including elective, emergency and high-risk cases. Ability to perform necessary ultrasound scans. Possess surgical competency.
DUTIES:
To coordinate a safe, efficient, cost-effective and appropriate Gynaecology service to patients at Victoria Hospital and the Metro West ecosystem.
To perform overtime duties, including Obstetric and Gynaecology duties, in the broader Metro West ecosystem.
To conduct teaching and training of staff and students
To assist with effective and efficient administration of the Gynaecology service
To ensure the rational use of resources
To provide innovation and improvement strategies
