Job Description
The Nursing Assistant in a pharmacy supports both clinical and administrative functions, assisting pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and patients. The role ensures safe medication handling, basic patient care, and efficient pharmacy operations
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Support:
Assist patients in understanding medication instructions as directed by licensed pharmacists.
Take basic patient vitals if required (e.g., blood pressure, glucose checks).
Provide compassionate support to patients, especially the elderly or those with chronic conditions.
Medication & Pharmacy Assistance:
Help prepare and label prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
Assist in inventory management - stock medications, check expiry dates, and organize shelves.
Ensure medications are stored safely according to pharmacy standards.
Deliver medications to patients when required.
Administrative Support:
Maintain accurate patient records and pharmacy logs.
Handle phone calls, schedule appointments, and answer patient queries.
Assist in processing insurance claims and payment transactions.
Hygiene & Safety:
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
Follow all health, safety, and infection control procedures.
Report any discrepancies or adverse reactions to the supervising pharmacist.
Requirements
Qualifications & Skills:
Certification as a Nursing Assistant / Health Care Assistant with 2-5 years experience.
Basic knowledge of medications and pharmacy operations.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle sensitive patient information.
