Role Description
The Online Editor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Abuja.
The Online Editor will manage and update the news website, ensuring that content is accurate, engaging, and published in a timely manner. This role includes editing and packaging stories for online consumption, writing headlines and summaries, coordinating with reporters and editors, and leading by ensuring high standards.
The Online Editor will monitor news cycles, optimise content for search and audience engagement, and ensure adherence to editorial guidelines and ethical standards.
The position also involves collaborating with social media teams, responding to breaking news needs, and contributing to digital content planning.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Web Editing and Content Writing skills.
Candidates should possess experience with content management systems.
Candidates should possess clear and effective Communication skills, both written and verbal.
Candidates should possess high-level Writing skills, with attention to clarity, accuracy, and tone.
Relevant experience in online journalism, digital publishing, or newsroom environments.
Familiarity with SEO best practices, web analytics, and user engagement metrics.
Ability to work in a fast-paced news environment, prioritise multiple tasks, and maintain editorial quality.
A bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Media Studies, or a related field is preferred.
Strong ethical judgment and commitment to responsible, unbiased reporting.
