Our client is looking for a Pet Deli Manager to take responsibility for the day-to-day running and success of a busy Pet Deli.
This is more than a retail management position. We are looking for someone who genuinely loves animals, enjoys talking to pet owners and takes pride in helping clients make the right choices for their pets.
You will be responsible for driving sales, managing stock and suppliers, leading the retail team and ensuring the Deli is well organised, well stocked and welcoming to both clients and their pets.

Minimum Requirements:


Matric (Grade12)
Sales qualification (Advantageous)
A genuine pet and animal lover with personal pet ownership experience
2-3 Years Previous management experience in pet retail, retail, animal care or a related environment
Strong sales and customer service skills
Good knowledge of pet food, nutrition and general pet wellbeing
Confident managing and motivating a team
Commercially minded with an understanding of stock control and profitability
Well organised and comfortable handling administration
Confident communicating with customers, suppliers and staff
Someone who is hands-on, reliable and happy working in a busy environment
Comfortable working around animals every day
Experience or qualifications in pet nutrition, animal care, veterinary retail or a similar field will be highly advantageous.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Taking overall responsibility for achieving Deli sales and turnover targets
Managing retail stock, including ordering, stock rotation, merchandising and expiry dates
Ensuring the Deli is always neat, well presented and fully stocked
Advising pet owners on food, treats, accessories, toys and suitable pet care products
Providing knowledgeable guidance on general pet health, wellness and dietary choices
Building relationships with customers and encouraging repeat business
Creating in-store promotions and implementing supplier promotions
Working with suppliers and sales representatives and evaluating new products
Identifying potential new suppliers and products
Promoting Deli products and services to Spa clients
Managing retail, part-time, merchandising and cleaning staff
Ensuring staff are trained on new products and understand their correct use
Monitoring cash-ups, petty cash, payments and general administration
Managing equipment, repairs, stock levels and day-to-day operational requirements
Taking bookings for the Pet Spa (grooming parlour)
Advising pet owners on grooming options for their pet
Supporting the Spa Manager and taking responsibility for the Spa when required
