Job Description
The Picker is responsible for accurately selecting and preparing goods for despatch in a fast-moving consumer goods environment. The role requires attention to detail, efficiency, and adherence to health and safety standards. The Picker ensures that orders are fulfilled correctly, maintaining the integrity and quality of products throughout the picking process.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately picking products from warehouse shelves according to order specifications and documentation.
Verifying quantities and product codes to ensure order accuracy.
Packing items securely to prevent damage during transportation.
Maintaining tidiness and organisation within the picking area.
Following all health and safety policies and procedures.
Reporting any discrepancies, damaged goods, or stock issues to the supervisor.
Using handheld scanning equipment or other technology to record order completion.
Assisting with stock replenishment and inventory control as required.
Working collaboratively with team members to meet daily order deadlines.
Adhering to company policies regarding hygiene and product handling standards.
Required Qualifications
Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Physical fitness to stand, walk, and lift items safely throughout the working day.
Reliable timekeeping and attendance.
Education
Completion of secondary education or equivalent is preferred.
Experience
Previous experience in a warehouse or picking role within the fast-moving consumer goods sector is advantageous but not essential.
Experience in handling and packing products carefully to avoid damage is beneficial.
Knowledge and Skills
Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
Basic understanding of warehouse operations and stock management.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines.
Effective communication skills.
Familiarity with using handheld scanners or warehouse management systems is desirable.
Awareness of health and safety regulations and practises.
Preferred Qualifications
Forklift licence or experience operating warehouse equipment is advantageous but not required.
Training in manual handling or health and safety is beneficial.
