Job Summary
The Planner & Scheduler is responsible for the development, maintenance, and monitoring of detailed project schedules to ensure timely delivery of construction projects.
The role supports effective planning, progress tracking, and schedule performance analysis, providing accurate data to enable proactive decision-making and alignment with project milestones.
Principal Duties, Responsibilities & Authorities
Project Planning & Scheduling:
Develop detailed project schedules (Level 3, Level 4, and look-ahead schedules) using Primavera P6.
Assist in defining Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) aligned with project scope.
Establish activity sequencing, durations, and logic links.
Identify critical path activities and monitor schedule performance.
Integrate engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning schedules.
Schedule Monitoring & Control:
Update schedules based on actual project progress and validate input data.
Track deviations from baseline schedules and highlight delays or risks.
Perform critical path and float analysis.
Develop recovery and mitigation schedules.
Support schedule optimisation and resource levelling.
Progress Measurement:
Track and report physical progress against planned targets.
Coordinate with site teams and subcontractors to verify progress data.
Support Earned Value Management (EVM) calculations where required.
Ensure consistency between reported progress and actual site conditions.
Reporting:
Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports.
Generate dashboards showing progress, delays, and forecast completion dates.
Highlight schedule risks and recommend corrective actions.
Provide input into overall project control reports.
Risk & Change Management Support:
Support Time Impact Analysis (TIA) for project changes and delays.
Assist in identifying schedule-related risks and mitigation strategies.
Maintain change logs affecting schedule baselines.
Provide schedule input to claims and variation assessments.
Stakeholder Coordination:
Liaise with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
Interface with subcontractors for schedule updates and alignment.
Participate in planning and coordination meetings.
Ensure schedule alignment with contractor deliverables.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Schedule Variance (SV): ±5% of planned schedule.
Schedule Performance Index (SPI): 0.95 - 1.05.
Milestone Achievement Rate: ≥95% of milestones achieved on or before planned dates.
Baseline Schedule Compliance: ≥90% adherence to the approved baseline schedule.
Forecast Accuracy (Completion Date): ±5% deviation from planned completion date.
Delay Identification & Recovery Time: Delay identification within 24 - 48 hours; recovery plan submission within 3 - 5 days.
Progress Reporting Timeliness & Accuracy: 100% on-time submission; ≥98% data accuracy.
Resource Utilization Efficiency: ±10% variance between planned and actual resource usage.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) or Construction Management, or a related discipline.
5 - 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling for construction, EPC, or oil & gas projects.
Primavera P6 Certification preferred.
PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is an added advantage.
