Role Purpose
The PR Account Manager will build and manage TDM's in-house public relations capability, ensuring that client communication programmes are strategic, credible, well-executed, measurable and aligned to broader digital, creative and media campaigns. The role is responsible for PR strategy, media relations, reputation management, stakeholder communications, campaign execution, quality control and client advisory support. The role must strengthen TDM's position as a problem-solving agency by moving PR from activity-based execution to insight-led client results, client retention, retainer growth and new business contribution.
Key Responsibilities
Develop PR strategies, messaging frameworks, press office plans and campaign communication plans aligned to approved client briefs, objectives, budgets and timelines.
Lead media relations across print, broadcast, online, business, lifestyle, sector and niche media, including building and maintaining credible journalist, editor, producer, influencer and stakeholder relationships.
Prepare, review and quality-assure press releases, media advisories, statements, opinion pieces, speeches, media briefs, FAQs, holding statements, PR reports and stakeholder communication materials.
Plan and execute PR activations including launches, press briefings, interviews, roundtables, media tours, partnership announcements and reputation-building campaigns.
Advise Digital, Client Service and Creative teams on PR scope, risk, timelines, approval requirements, media realities and crisis considerations before client commitments are made.
Manage PR account timelines, status sheets, issue logs, approvals, client updates and internal coordination in line with TDM's formal briefing, approval and SLA processes.
Monitor media coverage, sentiment, share of voice, message pull-through, reputational risks and competitor activity; convert findings into client-ready insights and recommendations.
Support crisis communication, escalation planning and rapid response through factual assessment, issue tracking, message control and clear internal decision routes.
Support proposals, pitches, PR retainers and integrated campaign ideas that can help TDM grow client accounts and expand into 360-degree agency services.
Ensure all work is delivered with TDM's standards of preparation, accountability, quality, professionalism, compliance and client-facing discipline.
Skills & Competencies
Degree or diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Business or a related field.
Recommended 4+ years' PR/account management experience, preferably in an agency or fast- paced communications environment.
Strong media relations, PR planning, corporate communications, campaign execution, writing, editing, message development, crisis communication, media monitoring and reputation management skills.
Good understanding of Kenyan media, East African business environment, digital media influence, stakeholder mapping and sector- based media engagement.
Ability to manage multiple clients, budgets, retainers, scopes, timelines, approvals, suppliers and client expectations without compromising quality or profitability.
Competence in media monitoring tools, Excel/Google Sheets, presentation tools, project/status tracking tools, Zoho/Monday-style workflows and AI-enabled research or drafting tools, subject to human verification.
