JOB SUMMARY


The Principal Exploration Geoscientist will carry out integrated geological and geophysical interpretation of subsurface data leading to the identification and maturation of prospects for drilling and development strategies in order to populate the portfolio as well as grow reserves bases.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


Manage and analyze geological and geophysical data and project databases.Carry out detailed subsurface geological and geophysical evaluation to identify, mature and propose economically attractive exploration prospects and development opportunities for drilling.
Carry out integrated technical appraisals and risk assessments of prospects and new opportunities.
Define and plan for additional specialist studies in support of opportunity identification and evaluation to reduce risks and uncertainties.
Carry out resources volume and reserve evaluation of exploration assets and field appraisals.
Carry out detailed geological, geophysical and development studies, including well reservoir management, for appraisal opportunities.
Maximize field extension and development to increase reserves and recovery.
Contribute to integrated geological studies of the reservoirs to optimize field development plans.
Contribute to the efficient well design and plans to reduce drilling risks by providing an accurate prognosis of geological information/ boundaries, well delivery strategies and potential drilling hazards for the effective management of operations.
Propose and hold reviews of prospects for drilling before execution including a robust Quality Well Delivery process and provide advice during drilling for effective cost management.
Ensure recommendations and action points arising from the Quality Assurance/ Quality Control process are implemented.
Evaluate new oil and gas exploration basins and plays for new business and portfolio growth.
Plan, implement, coordinate and supervise the acquisition of geological and geophysical data, including new seismic acquisition and processing/ reprocessing.
Perform all other duties that are necessary and reasonably attached to this Principal Exploration Geoscientist position and the fulfillment of its responsibilities.
Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager, Subsurface Development.


EDUCATIONAL & JOB REQUIREMENT

Qualifications


Bachelor's degree in Geoscience, Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics, Physics or any related field.
Master's degree in Geoscience, Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics, Physics or any related field.
PhD in Geoscience, Geology, Earth Science, Geophysics, Physics or any related field will be an advantage.


Experience


16 - 20 years' experience in a principal or managerial geoscience/subsurface maturation studies position in an exploration and production company.
At least 6 years of leading a multidisciplinary subsurface team.


Knowledge, Skills & Competencies


Knowledge and Technical capabilities/ expertise in subsurface evaluation disciplines/techniques (geological, geophysical, Petroleum Engineering and specialist studies), with experience integrated evaluation of assets.
Working knowledge of Petroleum Engineering data sets, well planning and drilling processes.
