Job Summary
A Principal Pipelines Engineer leads the design, integrity management, and technical execution of complex pipeline projects (onshore/subsea), serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
Key duties include directing engineering teams, approving technical deliverables, ensuring compliance with industry standards (ASME, API), and managing project budgets and schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Act as technical authority for pipeline design, stress analysis (AutoPipe, ABAQUS), materials selection, and hydraulic analysis.
Integrity Management: Analyze In-Line Inspection (ILI) data, conduct risk assessments, perform Fitness-for-Service (FFS) studies, and develop mitigation plans.
Project Management: Lead engineering teams of 10+ engineers/designers, define project scope, and manage budget/schedules for FEL/FEED and detailed design.
Quality Assurance: Review and approve technical specifications, calculations, and drawings, ensuring compliance with codes (e.g., ASME B31.4/B31.8).
Stakeholder Management: Liaise with clients, vendors, and regulatory bodies, leading technical presentations and troubleshooting.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures, including HAZID/HAZOP reviews.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred).
Experience: Typically 12-15+ years of experience in pipeline engineering (onshore/subsea) within the oil & gas or utility industries.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in pipeline simulation software (e.g., ABAQUS, AutoPipe, Pipephase).
Skills: Proven leadership, strong communication, and capability to mentor junior engineers.
