Requirements


B Eng or B Sc degree in Electrical Engineering, or
B Tech degree in Electrical Engineering
ECSA Registered Professional Engineer or Technologist registration
Minimum of 8 years post graduate technical experience of which 5 years should be managerial experience, with extensive exposure to electrical distribution equipment and electrical distribution infrastructure with particular emphasis and knowledge relating to MV and / or LV electricity distribution equipment such as MV substation and ancillary equipment, MV and LV underground cable and accessories, MV and LV overhead lines and hardware, and LV distribution street furniture and protection equipment.
Extensive knowledge of power system engineering and related disciplines and of the theoretical and practical aspects of electrical distribution equipment and technologies, and of related standards.


Key Performance Areas


Managing the Research, Development and Application of New Technologies and Standards
Research & Implement Existing and New Technology and Standards.
Managing the Strategic Contract Life Cycle of MV or LV Distribution Equipment
Leading the Equipment Standards Section in the preparation of technical specification in compliance with the prescribed procurement methodologies, within the particular functional area.
Equipment Standards - Technical Investigations and Specialised Support Services
Supports the Head: Equipment Standards by management of the Section to provide an efficient and comprehensive service to EGD department pertaining to the electricity distribution network' are serviceability, performance and maintenance.
Takes responsibility for section management duties on a rotating basis during periods that the Head: Equipment Standards is on leave or away from office.
