Job Summary
The Procurement Officer will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing raw materials, tools, machinery parts, and services required for furniture production.
The role ensures cost-effective purchasing, timely delivery of materials, vendor compliance, and adherence to company procurement policies.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and evaluate suppliers of wood, MDF, plywood, laminates, hardware, upholstery materials, adhesives, finishing products, and machinery parts.
Maintain and update the approved vendor list.
Conduct supplier performance evaluations (price, quality, delivery timelines).
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and service agreements.
Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Local Purchase Orders (LPOs).
Ensure LPOs are sent via official company communication channels.
Monitor order status and ensure timely delivery to avoid production delays.
Follow up on backorders and urgent material requests.
Compare quotations and analyze cost-benefit options.
Ensure procurement aligns with approved budgets.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
Work closely with store and production departments to monitor stock levels.
Prevent stock-outs or overstocking of materials.
Support periodic inventory audits.
Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier documentation.
Ensure strict adherence to internal procurement policies.
Prevent unauthorized vendor communication using personal devices.
Declare and report any vendor gifts in line with company policy.
Ensure materials purchased meet production quality standards.
Coordinate with quality control for inspection of delivered items.
Manage return of defective or substandard goods.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field.
4 - 7 years procurement experience (preferably infurniture manufacturing/production).
Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
Knowledge of furniture raw materials and production processes.
Proficiency in MS Office and procurement software.
High level of integrity and compliance awareness.
